Clinical Training
Renew Counseling Center is the primary clinical training facility for graduate students enrolled in Southern Nazarene University’s Graduate Programs in Counseling Psychology. Students pursuing the Master of Science in Counseling Psychology will train internally for one year at Renew Counseling Center during their second year in the program. Select third-year students will complete their internship experience at Renew Counseling Center.

- Weekly one-on-one supervisor provided by licensed professional counselors and psychologists
- Weekly 1.5 hour didactics focusing on professional development (see the Fall 2023 Training Schedule)
- Weekly one hour group supervision led by licensed professional counselors and psychologists
- Training funds for continued education outside of Renew
All clinical interns participate in the following clinical activities…
- Carry a caseload of individual clients
- Conduct weekly psychoeducation groups for the SNU community and broader community
- Opportunity to have a secondary rotation experience in the following areas:

- Geriatric Population at Southern Plaza Retirement Center in Bethany
- Child-Focused at Piedmont Public Schools, SNU Lab School
- Sliding Scale Community Clinics at Tulakes Clinic and Reaching Our City
- Assessment Clinic learning Cognitive and Personality Assessments
- Afghan refugee services at the Spero Project
- Sport Psychology working directly with SNU Athletics

- Weekly 1.5 hour didactics focusing on professional development (see the Fall 2023 Training Schedule) that are free and count toward continuing education credit for LPC’s and LADC’s
- The opportunity to supervise weekly one hour group supervision led by licensed professional counselors
- Training funds for continued education outside of Renew
